Rust Halloween Update 2026: Date, What We Know and What to Expect

Facepunch said in the Livestock update notes that the Halloween update is coming on October 22, at 18:00 BST / 13:00 EST. It is a mandatory update for both servers and players, so everyone has to update to join.

That is all Facepunch has said so far. They have not said what is in it.

What past Halloweens looked like

Rust has done a Halloween event for years. It is a short seasonal event, not a full monthly update, and it usually brings spooky items and cosmetics that last a few weeks. We'll wait for the real patch notes before saying more, because guessing at the details helps no one.

What to do before it lands

• Update your game on the day. Steam does this on its own, but check that it finished.
• Check your server host. Server owners need to update too, or players can't join.
• Expect a short outage. Servers often restart around a patch.
• Read the patch notes on rust.facepunch.com when they go up.
