Rust Character Customization Redesign: What We Can See in the Commits
Heads up: this is our read of public commit messages, not an announcement.
What we saw
Recent commits describe a redesign of the character customization screen. Notes mention a vertical layout and changes to a FlexGrid (a layout tool that arranges items in rows and columns).
Why it makes sense
In June, the Built Different update brought Rust's biggest player overhaul in years: new player models, new animations, a new armor set and the M16A2 rifle. More choices need a screen that can hold them. A new layout is a normal next step.
What it might change
- Easier to find options. A vertical list is faster to scroll on small screens.
- Room for more choices later, like more face, hair or body options.
- A cleaner look that matches the newer menus.
What we don't know
We don't know if new items are coming with it. A layout change by itself doesn't add anything new to pick.
What to do
Nothing. If it ships, you'll see it when you open the screen. We'll post when the patch notes confirm it.
