Rust PVE vs PVP: What's the Difference and Which Should You Play?
When you look for a Rust server, you'll see PVP and PVE everywhere. Here is what they mean.
PVP: player vs player
On a PVP server, other players can attack you. They can raid your base, kill you and take your stuff. It is tense, and a lot of people love it for that.
Good for: people who want high stakes and fights. Not great for: people with limited time, since a base can be lost fast.
PVE: player vs environment
On a PVE server, players can't hurt each other. The danger comes from the world: animals, NPC scientists, helicopters and bosses. Your base is usually safe from other players.
Good for: people who want to build, explore and grow without being raided. Not great for: people who want to fight other players.
What PVE servers add
Many PVE servers also add:
- Events like crashes and boss fights
- Skill levels and quests to work toward
- Shops and trading
- Clans for working together
How to pick
Ask yourself:
- Do I have a lot of time, or a little?
- Do I like fighting players, or building?
- Am I okay losing a base?
If you picked "a little time," "building," and "no," try PVE.
