Satellite crashes on Sanguine: NPC guards, no fire, and loot that is actually yours
The satellite crash from Rust's August 2026 update is our favorite kind of content: you push a button, something enormous falls out of the sky, and then things try to kill you. Here is exactly how it plays on Sanguine Rust.
How to trigger one
First, the grid needs juice: power must be restored at the Power Plant by plugging Heavy Fuses into the island power grid. The satellite terminal stays dead until the plant is running. Once it is, head to Launch Site, find the terminal added in the Power Trip update and trigger it. Then watch the sky: the wreck comes down hot somewhere on the map and it is marked for you.
What is waiting for you
On vanilla Rust the wreck just burns for five minutes while a crowd gathers. We rebuilt the event end to end:
- No fire wait. The flames are out by the time you arrive and the crates unlock immediately. The delay is the fight, not a timer.
- A scientist squad guards the wreck. Armed NPCs hold the crash site. Come loaded, or come with friends.
- Caller owns the loot. The crates are locked to the player who triggered the satellite, and their teammates. On a PVE server the point is that your event is yours: nobody can walk off with the drop you called down and fought for.
- Clean cleanup. Leftover guards despawn with the wreck, so the site does not haunt the map afterwards.
Tips
- Bring mid tier gear at minimum. The guard squad hits harder than roadside scientists.
- It pairs well with our XP system: kills, looting and the trip itself all feed your skills.
- Call one at night during a blood moon if you want the hardest version of the fight. We are not responsible for what happens.
